The Work of Christians in Love

To spread love’s message far and wide they go,
With acts of kindness, mercy, and compassion.
They bear the fruits of love that all should know,
For love is patient, kind, and bears no pride,
It does not envy, boast, nor keep a score,
But in truth and righteousness doth it abide.

The work of Christians is to embody and spread the message of love, following the example set by Jesus Christ. Christians are called to love their neighbors as themselves, to bear one another’s burdens, and to forgive as they have been forgiven. These acts of love fulfill the greatest commandments of loving God with all one’s heart, soul, and mind, and loving one’s neighbor as oneself (Matthew 22:37-39). The Holy Spirit works within believers to cultivate love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). By loving not only in words but in deeds and truth (1 John 3:18), Christians reflect God’s love and bring forth blessings through their actions.

The first to show true love, the Scripture tells,
‘Twas our Lord Jesus Christ, with love so pure.
He gave His life for all, a sacrifice,
That we might find redemption and endure.

The Holy Spirit’s work in love is seen,
For He doth guide and teach the hearts of men.
With tongues of fire and mighty winds of change,
He brings forth love where darkness once had been.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son” (John 3:16). This divine love serves as the exemplar for all mankind, teaching us to love one another as He has loved us. Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, believers are enabled to love as God loves, fulfilling their calling to be ambassadors of His grace and truth in a world in need of His love.
